Activities in Cooperation with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation
Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC), established in 1969 to be a collective voice of the Islam world is now a world-wide organization with 57 member states.
In line with the decision taken in the 18th Meeting of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of OIC (COMCEC), organized in Ankara on May 31, 2011, in order to form the basis of the technical assistance project in the area of competition law among member countries, with the cooperation of Turkish Competition Authority and Islamic Center for the Development of Trade, a subsidiary of OIC, “Conference on Needs Assessment of The OIC Member States in the field of Competition Law and Policy” was organized on November 21-22, 2011 in Istanbul. As a result of the Conference, it was decided that Statistical, Economic, Social Research and Training Center for Islamic Countries (SESRIC) shall provide technical assistance to OIC member countries and the support of Turkish Competition Authority was requested for the technical assistance project.
Within the framework of the cooperation in question, Turkish Competition Authority has visited competition authorities of Albania, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Gambia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Kyrgyzstan to provide training in the field of competition law and policy as of 2013.
