Birol KÜLE

Born in Ankara in 1964, Birol KÜLE graduated from the Economics Department of the Hacettepe University and completed his post-graduate degree in Banking and Finance at the Bilgi University.
From 1992, when he entered into professional life, to 2010, he worked at different participation banks, after which he took office at the Saving Deposit Insurance Fund (SDIF) as the Head of Collection Department. Following this position, he was appointed as a member to the Capital Markets Board (CMB), where he served as Deputy Chairman and Investor Compensation Center member.
Birol KÜLE was appointed as the Chairman of the Competition Board with the Presidential Decision no 2019/368, published in the Official Gazette dated November 2, 2019.
After serving as the Chairman of the Competition Board between 2019 and 2023, KÜLE was re-appointed as the Chairman of the Competition Board with the Presidential Decision dated 01.11.2023 and numbered 2023/474, which was published in the Official Gazette dated 02.11.2023 and numbered 32357.
KÜLE played an active role in the collection of non-performing loans under the SDIF for the public as well as in the preparation of the secondary legislation changing the market structure following the entry into force of the Capital Markets Law no 6362, and he has more than 25 years of experience in the fields of banking, financial markets, regulation and supervision.
Birol KÜLE is married with three children, and has a good command of English.
