Ahmet ALGAN

Deputy Chairman of the Competition Board

Ahmet Algan was born in Osmaniye. He graduated from Business Administration Department of Ankara University Faculty of Political Sciences in 1995. He received his MBA degree in 2006 from the same university.

He started his professional life as an assistant auditor in a private bank. Beside his managerial duties at different levels, he worked in American Express Bank in New York and conducted academic studies on economy and finance in New York University. He had different duties in the Prime Ministry of the Republic of Türkiye in 2003 and afterwards in the Committee on European Union Harmonization at the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye. In 2007, he was assigned as the Head of Capital Markets Department in the Privatization Administration. During that period, he participated in Appraisal Commissions for several companies as well as public offering transactions for enterprises to be privatized such as Halkbank Inc and served as the member of the Board of Directors of Trakya Elektrik Dağıtım A.Ş. Between 2010 and 2018, he served as the Vice President of the Presidency of Turks Abroad and Related Communities.

He was appointed as a Competition Board Member according to the Presidential Decision numbered 2018/46, which was published in the Official Gazette dated 25 July 2018 and numbered 30489. He was appointed as the Deputy Chairman of the Competition Board according to the Presidential Decision numbered 2022/73, which was published in the Official Gazette dated 25 February 2022 and numbered 31762. He was reappointed as the Deputy Chairman of the Board according to the Presidential Decision numbered 2022/426, which was published in the Official Gazette dated 3 September 2022 and numbered 31942.

He has Independent Accountant and Financial Advisor title and Independent Auditor title. He is married with one child.
