Investigation on 45 Bakeries Operating in the Central District of Aksaray Concluded (7.5.2014)
The investigation initiated in order to determine whether bakeries operating in the central district of Aksaray violated article 4 of the Act no 4054 on the Protection of Competition by jointly setting bread prices was concluded.
The investigation in question was initiated on 16.09.2013, in response to the information received suggesting that bakeries operating in the central district of Aksaray conspired to fix bread prices and as a result of the corroborative information and documents gathered during the preliminary inquiry process launched on the Authority's own initiative based on many news items published on local news portals.
In addition, the 45 undertakings under investigation made an application on 21.11.2013 under the scope of the Regulation on Active Cooperation for Detecting Cartels (Leniency Regulation) and admitted the existence of the cartel.
As a result of the discussion of the file by the Competition Board, it was decided, on 16.04.2014, that administrative fines should be imposed on

When setting the amount of administrative fines, in light of the application of the undertakings concerned within the framework of the Leniency Regulation, the discounts set out in the Regulation on Fines to Apply In Cases of Agreements, Concerted Practices and Decisions Limiting Competition, and Abuse of Dominant Position (Regulation on Fines) and the Leniency Regulation were applied.
