Investigation conducted in order to determine whether Dosu Maya Mayacılık A.Ş., Mauri Maya San. ve Tic. A.Ş., Öz Maya Sanayi A.Ş. and Pak Gıda Üretim ve Pazarlama A.Ş. violated article 4 of the Act no 4054 was concluded.
The investigation was initiated as a result of the preliminary inquiry conducted about the applications with the claim that yeast producers colluded and increased the price of fresh yeast used in the production of bread. At the investigation phase, whether the undertakings under investigation made contacts for price fixing and its implementation was examined.
Moreover, at the investigation phase, one of the undertakings under investigation, Mauri Maya San. ve Tic. A.Ş., made an application to benefit from the Regulation on Active Cooperation for Detecting Cartels (Leniency Regulation) on 27.05.2013.
As a result of the discussion of the contents of the file by the Competition Board on 21.10.2014, it was decided that Dosu Maya Mayacılık A.Ş., Mauri Maya San. ve Tic. A.Ş., Öz Maya Sanayi A.Ş. and Pak Gıda Üretim ve Pazarlama A.Ş. violated article 4 of the Act no 4054 by colluding and increasing the price of fresh yeast used in the production of bread. Therefore, Dosu Maya Mayacılık A.Ş., Öz Maya Sanayi A.Ş. ve Pak Gıda Üretim ve Pazarlama A.Ş. were imposed administrative fines according to article 16 of the said Act and the Regulation on Fines. Moreover, Mauri Maya Sanayi A.Ş. was not imposed administrative fines according to article 4(2) of the Leniency Regulation taking into consideration the application of the said undertaking within the scope of the Leniency regulation as well as the quality, efficiency and timing of its cooperation.
