The Competition Board (the Board) launched an investigation on Adidas Spor Malzemeleri Satış ve Pazarlama Anonim Şirketi (ADIDAS), which is operating in sports shoes, sportswear and sports accessories areas, to determine whether it violated article 4 of the Act no 4054 on the Protection of Competition (the Act no 4054).
Upon the annulment of the Board decision dated 21.04.2022 and no 22-18/300-133 that the complaints shall be rejected and an investigation shall not be launched, which was taken as a result of the preliminary inquiry conducted previously about ADIDAS, with the decision of Ankara 12th Administrative Court dated 27.11.2023 and no 2023/127 E., 2023/2120 K., in order to fulfill the requirement of the relevant court decision, it was decided to open a preliminary inquiry about ADIDAS with the Board decision dated 18.01.2024 and no 24-05/87-M  according to article 40(1) of the Act no 4054.
Within the framework of the information and documents obtained and examinations made during the preliminary inquiry, the Board considered the findings related to the allegations that ADIDAS intervened in resale prices of its authorized sellers significant and sufficient and took the decision dated 28.08.2024 and no 24-35/856-M to launch an investigation according to Article 41 of the Act no 4054.
