Investigation Initiated concerning 7 Private Teaching Institutions Operating in the Central District of the Tokat Province (19.9.2013)

Competition Board concluded the preliminary inquiry conducted in response to a complaint claiming that certain private courses operating in the central district of the Tokat province conspired to maintain registration fees and refused to make any discounts over those fees.

After examining the information, evidence and the findings gathered in the preliminary inquiry in its meeting of 21.08.2013, the Board concluded that the findings were significant and sufficient, and decided to open an investigation under article 41 of the Act no 4054 on the Protection of Competition concerning

- Obin Eğt. Öğr. Hiz. Tic. Ltd. Şti. (Bilgi Private Course),

- Özderhan Eğt. Öğr. Hiz. Tic. Ltd. Şti. (Tokat Sınav Private Course),

- Özel Tokat Bilim Eğt. Öğr. Hiz. Basın Yayın İnş. Turizm San. Ltd. Şti. (Bilim Private Course),

- Selçuklu Özel Eğitim Merkezi A.Ş. (Selçuk Fen Private Course, Selçuk Fem Ana-Fen Private Course, Tokat Fem Private Course),

all of which operate in the central district of the Tokat province.

Article 4 of the Act no 4054 prohibits all anti-competitive agreements and concerted practices between undertakings. The investigation was initiated in order to determine whether the aforementioned undertakings violated article 4 of the Act no 4054 by conspiring to maintain private course fees as well as discount rates and amounts offered to students. 

*Investigation decisions taken by the Competition Board are announced to the public following the notification of the decision to the undertakings or associations of undertakings under investigation. These declarations, which are made within the framework of informing the public on Competition Board decisions, can not be interpreted to mean the undertakings or associations of undertakings under investigation have violated the Act no 4054 and that they have faced or will face sanctions under the Act.
