The preliminary inquiry related to the complaint that cement producers operating in the Aegean Region violated article 4 of the Act no 4054 by means of price/quota agreement, territory/customer allocation and/or similar anticompetitive behavior was concluded by the Competition Board.

After discussing the information, documents and findings acquired in the preliminary inquiry in its meeting of 12.06.2014, the Board considered that the findings were significant and sufficient, and took the decision numbered 14-21/416-M that an investigation shall be initiated on the following undertakings:

- As Çimento Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş.,
- Batıçim Batı Anadolu Çimento Sanayii A.Ş.,
- Batısöke Söke Çimento Sanayi T.A.Ş.,
- Çimentaş İzmir Çimento Fabrikası Türk A.Ş.,
- Denizli Çimento Sanayii Ticaret A.Ş.,
- Göltaş Göller Bölgesi Çimento Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş.

As it is known, article 4 of the act no 4054 prohibits agreements and concerted practices between undertakings that restrict competition. The investigation was initiated in order to determine whether the aforementioned undertakings violated article 4 of the Act no 4054.

*Investigation decisions taken by the Competition Board are announced to the public following the notification of the decision to the undertakings or associations of undertakings under investigation. Those announcements, which are made within the framework of informing the public about the decisions of the Competition Board, cannot be interpreted to mean that the undertakings or associations of undertakings about which the investigation is opened have violated the Act no 4054, or they are or will be subject to penal sanctions under the Act.
