The investigation conducted to find whether Türk Telekomünikasyon A.Ş. violated article 6 of the Act no 4054 by means of its pricing activities related to calling cards that are under the services for fixed lines was concluded.
The investigation was initiated as a result of the preliminary inquiry conducted upon a complaint. As a result of the discussion of the contents of the file by the Competition Board on 25.06.2014, it was decided that Türk Telekomünikasyon A.Ş. held a dominant position in the wholesale market for "call origination in fixed network", "call forwarding in fixed network" and "call termination in fixed network" with respect to the part "call origination in fixed network" and calls terminated in its own network in the part "call termination in fixed network".
However, it was concluded that Türk Telekomünikasyon A.Ş. did not abuse its dominant position in the said wholesale market by means of price squeezing in the market for "calling cards services" at the retail level and thus did not violate article 6 of the Act no 4054 on the Protection of Competition; therefore, it was not necessary to impose administrative fines to the said undertaking according to article 16 of the same Act.
