With the decision of the Competition Board dated 16.01.2025 and numbered 25-02/58-M, it was decided to conduct a preliminary inquiry about undertakings operating in the pilotage and towage sector related to the claims that the Act no 4054 on the Protection of Competition was violated by means of complicating other competitors’ activities and foreclosing the market to competitors through agreements restrictive of competition among competitors.

Within the framework of the information and documents obtained and examinations made during the preliminary inquiry, the suspicions about restriction of competition were considered significant and sufficient; thus, with the decision of the Board dated 13.03.2025 dated and numbered 25-10/224-M(1),  it was decided that an investigation shall be opened per article 41 of the Act no 4054 about the following, which operate in the pilotage and towage sector,

• Deniz Kılavuzluk AŞ,
• Marin Römorkör ve Kılavuzluk AŞ,
• Sanmar Denizcilik Makina ve Tic. AŞ,
• Uzmar Uzmanlar Denizcilik Tic. ve San. Ltd. Şti.

in order to determine whether they violated article 4 of the same Act.

* Investigation decisions taken by the Competition Board are announced to the public following the notification of the decision to the undertakings or associations of undertakings under investigation. These declarations, which are made within the framework of informing the public on Competition Board decisions, cannot be interpreted to mean that the undertakings or associations of undertakings under investigation have violated the Act no 4054 and that they have faced or will face sanctions under the Act.
