With the Competition Board Decision numbered 23-21/411-M, an investigation was launched on 11.05.2023 about Canon Eurasia Görüntüleme ve Ofis Sistemleri AŞ (CANON), concerning the claim that it violated Article 4 of the Act no 4054 on the Protection of Competition. The subject of the investigation involves the claim that CANON fixed resale prices by intervening in the sale prices of sellers or dealers engaged in the resales of the Canon brand products supplied by CANON, which should have been determined independently.
CANON is active in the manufacturing and sales of printing, copying, imaging and photo-video products as well as optical products which include digital SLR cameras, digital video cameras, mirrorless compact system cameras and interchangeable lenses, and it operates in Türkiye in the distribution of the aforementioned products. In that framework, the relevant products are distributed through distributors. Distributors, in turn, resell Canon brand products to various wholesalers and retailers, including resellers such as technology retail stores, dealers operating in the traditional channel, online marketplaces and dealers active in the online marketplaces.
The hearing for the investigation conducted to determine whether CANON violated Article 4 of the Act no 4054 by fixing the resale prices of various resellers will be held on June 4, 2024, at 10:30.
