Competition Board concluded the preliminary inquiry which was initiated in response to the complaint applications which included the claims that Volkan Metro Turizm Seyahat ve Nakliyat Tic. Ltd. Şti., which acquired the operating rights of the Edirne Bus Terminal, engaged in practices aimed at foreclosing the market to other transportation firms and/or agencies operating within the bus terminal and at monopolizing the agency services market.
After examining the information, documents and findings gathered as a result of the preliminary inquiry in its meeting of 17.10.2012, the Board concluded that the findings were significant and sufficient, and decided to open an investigation under article 41 of the Act no 4054 on the Protection of Competition concerning Volkan Metro Turizm Seyahat ve Nakliyat Tic. Ltd. Şti.
Article 6 of the Act no 4054 prohibits the abuse of dominant position. The investigation was initiated in order to determine whether Volkan Metro Turizm Seyahat ve Nakliyat Tic. Ltd. Şti. violated article 6 of the Act no 4054 by refusing to allocate offices to the undertakings which transported passengers with bus and/or which acted as intermediaries in ticket sales.

These declarations, which are made within the framework of informing the public on Competition Board decisions, can not be interpreted to mean the undertakings or associations of undertakings under investigation have violated the Act no 4054 and that they have faced or will face sanctions under the Act.
